P400/500 Soluble Release User Guide
Hardware Settings
•
Set the operating temperature for soluble support liquifier at 235°C. The
support liquifier Watlow temperature controller should automatically read
235° C when building a part.
•
The Watlow has a secondary temperature setting of 210° C. Whenever the
machine is paused, between building support layers, or upon completion of
a build, the temperature is automatically set to 210° C. Press Enter on the
keypad to set the temperature back to 235° C. The beginning of each sml
file also contains code that will set the temperature to 235° C if the operator
has failed to do so. The envelope temperature remains the same at 70° C.
•
When changing heads to another material, remember to set the proper
operating temperature for the material. The support side temperature
controller will still go to the same standby temperature, but you must set
the proper operating temperature.
Loading/Unloading
•
For best results, unload material at a liquifier temperature of 210° C.
The Watlow will likely be at 210° C already if the machine was at the
end of a build or during a filament out condition.
•
Before loading, remember to verify that the temperature reads 235° C.
Press Enter on the keypad to clear or reset the temperature to 235° C, or
manually set the temperature.
•
When opening a head, the soluble filament is brittle and may break if the
head is opened all the way.
Tip Sizes
•
T12 and T16 tip sizes are provided. You can use the T12 tip at .007 –
.010-in. slice increments. The T16 can be used at .010 – .012-in. slice
increments.
•
If you are using the T10 tip for building on the model side, you must use
the T12 soluble tip.
Cleaning Tips
•
Soluble material “sticks” to your tips more than P400R. Use the wire
brush from the startup kit and clean the tips thoroughly
before every
build
.
Setting Tip Depth
When setting the tip Z position relative to the foam support, do not bury
the tip into the foam! Set tip at, or slightly above, the foam for a
successful part build.
