Entering the DNS server
DNS is a decentralised service that assigns PC names or Internet addresses (
) and IP addresses to one another. A DNS server must administer this information
for each server or for each LAN with an Internet connection.
Your Internet service provider will usually provide you with a
that makes this
assignment when an Internet connection is set up. If necessary, you can manually
define the DNS server to be used for the Internet connections.
ì
Enter the IP addresses for your preferred DNS servers (
Preferred DNS server
and
Alternate DNS server
).
ì
You can define the name of a domain (Windows workgroup) in the
Domain name
field.
Assigning static IP addresses to individual PCs
Even if you have activated the DHCP server, you can still assign a static IP address to indi-
vidual PCs (e.g. when setting up these PCs for NAT functions).
ì
Enter the
MAC address
of the PC to which you want to assign a static IP address.
ì
Enter the
IP address
you wish to assign to the PC.
ì
Click the
Add
button to add the entry to the list.
ì
Click the
Delete
button to delete the entry from the list.
ì
Apply the settings by clicking
OK
.
This function corresponds to pressing the
