3.3.4 MAINTENANCE Backup Menu Functions
Administration of Backup Functions
Note: The Galaxy NAS LX5 is currently having technical difficulties dealing with direct attached
tape library backups. Consult with Galaxy technical support regarding your backup requirements.
Function: Create new pool fig 3.3.4a
This function allows you to create pools. Pools are used for grouping tapes that belong to storages.
Available options:
Name - the name of the pool,
Tape retention after - time period after which the tapes in the pool will be ready to be rewritten,
Preserve tape until end of retention time - each tape will store only one backup until the
retention time is over. It will not be possible to append data to these tapes.
To create a pool:
enter its name,
set the retention time,
optionally you can enable the
Preserve tape until end of retention time
option.

This function allow you to change the pool settings.
