Chapter 7 Troubleshooting
7-4 Responding to an Error Message
This describes the error messages that may appear
on the machine’s display screen, and how to take
action to remedy the problem. If the action described
here does not correct the problem, or if an error
message not described here appears, contact your
authorized Roland DG Corp. dealer.
[Emergency Stop COVER OPEN]
An emergency stop occurred because the front cover
was opened while the spindle was rotating.
Operation cannot be continued. Switch the power off and back
on, then redo the operation from the start.
P. 40, “Starting and Quitting”
[Emergency Stop S-overload[*]]
An emergency stop occurred because of a spindlem-
otor error.
Note: The kind of load applied is indicated as “S” (short), “L” (long),
“P” (peak), or “T” (temperature).
When stopped during the cutting operation:
This is caused by prolonged high load on the motor or by exces-
sive torque being applied momentarily. Immediate resume is not
possible. Switch the power off and back on, revise the cutting
parameters, and then redo the operation from the start.
P. 40, “Starting and Quitting”
When stopped once the spindle started rotating:
This may occur when the machine is used in the low-temperature
environment or in conditions where the spindle is not warmed
up adequately. Switch off the power once, restart the machine,
and then perform the spindle run-in (warm up) operation.
P. 35, “Spindle Run-in (Warm-up),” p. 40, “Starting and Quitting”
If this message appears even after you revise the cutting param-
eters or perform the run-in operation for the spindle, contact
your authorized Roland DG Corp. dealer.
[Emergency Stop Z AXIS error]
An emergency pause occurred because Z-axis descent
failed to stop.
Resuming is not possible. The spindle head may be locked while
automatic Z control is set to “ON.” Switch the power off and back
on, then check the position of the lock lever for the spindle head.
After checking, redo the operation from the beginning.
If this message continues to appear, con tact your authorized
Roland DG Corp. dealer.
P. 40, “Starting and Quitting,” p. 82, “The Position of the Lock Lever,” and
p. 108, “ Examples of Settings for Cutting Parameters”
[Emergency Stop RPM error]
An emergency stop occurred because rotation of the
spindle failed to reach the specified rpm.
Operation cannot be continued. The cause is a motor error or the
like. Switch off the power and contact your authorized Roland
DG Corp. dealer.
P. 41, “Shutdown”
[Cannot find *- LIMIT SW]
An emergency stop occurred because initialization
failed.
Switch the power off, remove any cutting waste or other ob-
structions impeding operation of the spindle head, then redo
the operation from the start. If the message persists even after
redoing the operation from the beginning, contact your autho-
rized Roland DG Corp. dealer.
* “X,” “Y,” or “Z”
P. 40, “Starting and Quitting”
[I/O Err:Framing/Parity Error]
This is displayed when the parameter settings for com-
munication with the computer are unsuitable.
Pressing
pauses the machine. Because unintended
operation may occur, we recommend using the “pause” menu
displayed on the screen to select “STOP” and quit operation.
Revise the communication parameters on the machine and the
computer (the settings for baud rate, parity, number of stop
bits, and data bit length). When a serial connection is used, this
error message may appear if the computer is restarted while the
machine is powered up.
P. 50, “Stopping Cutting,” p. 85, “Submenus”
[I/O Err:Buffer Overflow]
The machine’s memory experienced an overflow.
Pressing
pauses the machine. Because unintended
operation may occur, we recommend using the “pause” menu
displayed on the screen to select “STOP” and quit operation.
Possible causes include unsuitable communication parameters
for a serial connection. Revise the communication parameters
on the machine and the computer (the settings for baud rate,
parity, number of stop bits, and data bit length).
