It is also possible to select a mode for the programmable
mixer, i.e. linear (LIN) or symmetrical (SYM) mode; you can
toggle between the two simply by touching the appropriate
field. The linear mode is used for controlling the throttle servo
or a switch; this mode is non self-neutralising. The alternative
(symmetrical) mode is self-neutralising, and is the default set-
ting for use with control surfaces.
• Setting up the Master channel
If you are setting up an ‘Offset’ mixer, no settings have to be
entered at this point. For a normal mixer you should pro-
gram the required values using the following procedure:
First mark the ‘Master’ field. This calls up the function
select menu, where you define the Master channel by tou-
ching the appropriate button field. Press ‘End’ to leave the
sub-menu. The selected channel is now displayed in the
‘Master’ field.
You can program either a control function or any transmitter
control as the Master channel; simply press the ‘H/W’ but-
ton field at bottom right. This calls up the transmitter control
/ switch select menu.
At this point you can select the transmitter control in the
familiar way; your selection is displayed in the ‘Master’ field.
In the screen shot below, for example, the transmitter con-
trol ‘LD’ has been selected.
• Setting up the Slave channel
The settings are entered using exactly the same procedure.
Mark the ‘Slave’ field, determine the Slave function in the
select menu which then appears, and leave the sub-menu
by pressing ‘End’. The selected channel is displayed in the
‘Slave’ field.
• Activating the link function (+/-)
If you wish to link this mixer to another mixer, you have to
activate the fields adjacent to the ‘Master’ and / or ‘Slave’
function display. The link function is used to chain (cascade)
programmable mixers together.
Example:
Programmable mixer 1: Rudder ? elevator
Programmable mixer 2: Elevator ? aileron
If you want the rudder function to affect the ailerons as well
as the elevator, then the linked functions have to be set up
as follows:
Programmable mixer 1: Rudder ? el
Programmable mixer 2: + Elevator ? aileron
The link mode can be set from ‘Off’
(default; no display in the field) to ‘+’ or
‘-’. In each case the prefix indicates the
direction of mixing (same-sense or
opposite-sense).
The +/- symbol after the Slave function
also has another purpose: if it is activa-
ted, the mixer affects all servos control-
led by a Slave function which is already
in use by a mixer. In this example this involves both
ailerons; the prefix indicates whether the direction of mixing
is the same or opposed.
• Determining the effect of the trims
The next step is to set up the trim function; at this point you
have to decide how the trims of the two channels are to
work. ‘Off’ or ‘On’ can be set in the associated ‘Trim’ field. If
set to ‘On’, the trim of the Master channel also affects the
Slave channels. If not, the two channels are de-coupled.
Mark the field to change this setting; the status is shown in
graphic form in each case.
• Defining AFR mode
You now have to determine which AFR mode is to apply to
the Slave channel, i.e. what is known as ‘Stick to stick
mode’ (St ? st) can be switched on and off at this point. If
you disable this mode, the Master function affects the Slave
channel directly, without taking into account any special
settings you may have applied to the Master transmitter
control, i.e. it only affects the selected Slave channel. In
contrast, if ‘St ? st’ mode is active, any special settings
applied to the Master transmitter control - such as D/R,
AFR, EXPO etc. - are also applied to the Slave channel. In
this mode the mixer functions also affect any other mixers
involving the Slave channel.
Example: Model type - two ailerons
Mixing elevator to aileron in ‘St ? st’ mode affects both
ailerons.
Select the mode accordingly, and - if necessary - switch the
mode from ‘Off’ to ‘On’ by marking the appropriate field.
The current status is indicated in the field.
• Setting the display mode
The ‘Display’ button field allows you to choose whether the
graphic screen display is to show data for all flight modes
(All modes), for the currently active flight mode (Separate) or
for fine-adjustment (Fine) simultaneously. If you wish, you
can see an on-screen display of all the information relating
to a particular mixer.
• Carrying out ‘fine-tuning’ adjustments
It is possible to program a transmitter control which is used
to carry out fine adjustments (fine-tuning) of the mixer set-
tings. Changes are carried out in the ‘Fine-tuning’ frame,
but first you have to define the transmitter control you wish
to use for this purpose; the default is ‘NONE’. Mark the
