11. PAPER FEED AND REGISTRATION
11.1 OVERVIEW
This model has three paper feed stations. The large capacity tray feed station
[A] (1000 sheets) is located on the right side of the copier (LCT machine only)
and the upper paper tray [B] (non- duplex machine only) and lower paper tray
[C] feed stations are located inside the copier. The upper and lower paper
trays are drawer trays that holds 250 sheets of paper. Paper can also be fed
using the by-pass feed table [D] which utilizes the feed mechanism of the
LCT feed station. The by-pass feed table can hold 20 sheets of paper.
The LCT feed station uses an FRR feed system. Rotation of the pick-up roller
[E] drives the top sheet of paper from the LCT to the feed and the separation
rollers. The feed [F] and separation [G] rollers then take over the paper drive.
If more than one sheet is fed by the pick-up roller, the separation roller
rotates in the opposite direction and prevents all but the top sheet from
passing through to the registration rollers [H].
The upper and lower paper tray stations use the feed roller [I] and friction pad
feed mechanism. During paper feed, the top sheet of paper separates from
the stack and is fed to the relay rollers [J] then to the registration rollers. The
friction pad prevents all but the top sheet from going in.
