REMS Roll Grooving Attachment
to fit all versions of REMS Tornado, REMS Gigant, REMS Magnum
Caution! Before commissioning the machine, read the
general safety instructions incorporated in the
instructions for use of the appropriate drive machine,
e.g. REMS Tornado, REMS Gigant, REMS Magnum!
WARNING
Safety Instructions for roll grooving attachment!
● Only operate the machine with the roll grooving attachment when the machine
is firmly secured to the workbench or bolted to a stand, as there is a risk of it
tipping over with heavy workpieces in particular.
● Provide support for longer workpieces.
● Do not reach into the rotating rollers of the roll grooving unit.
● Do not work on the roll grooving attachment without the front and rear safety
guards.
● The feed lever on the hydraulic hand pump might in some circumstances flip
back. Ensure that you always stand to the side of the hydraulic hand pump and
that your body is outside the movement radius of the feed lever.
● Do not extend the feed lever.

machines REMS Tornado, REMS Gigant or REMS Magnum (up to 4”), the
dimen sion H stated in the respective instructions for use is increased by 170 mm.

If the REMS roll grooving attachment is mounted on one of the threading
machines REMS Tornado, REMS Gigant or REMS Magnum (up to 4”), the
weight stated in the respective instructions for use is increased by 14 kg (diffe-
rence between tool set and REMS roll grooving attachment).
2. Commissioning
WARNING
Transport weights exceeding 35 kg must be carried by two people.
2.1. Roll grooving machine Magnum 20xx RG-T
For transportation, the machine can be lifted by its guide arms (8) at the front,
and by a pipe inserted into the quick-action hammer chuck (1) and guide chuck
(2) at the rear.
Fasten the machine to the workbench or folding stand using the 2 bolts supplied.
It is essential to ensure that the machine is horizontal. Open the quick-action
hammer chuck (1). Slide the roll grooving unit onto the guide arms (8) until the
drive shaft of the roll grooving unit is projecting with its 3 faces into the quick-
action hammer chuck. Close the latter until the clamping jaws are in contact
with the 3 faces of the drive shaft. With the clamping ring (9), tighten the drive
shaft after a brief opening movement with one or two hard turns. Position and
bolt the hydraulic hand pump (10).
2.2. REMS roll grooving attachment on REMS Magnum 20xx T-L
Refer to instructions for use of REMS Magnum. Swing in the pipe cutter and
the inner pipe deburrer. Undo the wing screw on the clamping ring. Remove
the oil pan with the cuttings tray. Remove the tool set. Close off the mechanical
lubricant pump by connecting the hose end detached from the tool holder to
the intake side of the pump; lubricant must circulate inside the pump to prevent
it being damaged. Ensure without fail that the machine is horizontal.
Slide the roll grooving unit onto the guide arms (8) until the drive shaft of the
roll grooving unit is projecting with its 3 faces into the quick-action hammer
chuck. Close the latter until the clamping jaws are in contact with the 3 faces
of the drive shaft. With the clamping ring (9), tighten the drive shaft after a brief
opening movement with one or two hard turns. Position and bolt the hydraulic
hand pump (10).
2.3. REMS roll grooving attachment on REMS Magnum 20xx T and
REMS Magnum 40xx T
Refer to instructions for use of REMS Magnum. Swing in the pipe cutter and
the inner pipe deburrer. Undo the wing screw on the clamping ring. Remove
the tool set. Take out the cuttings tray. Place the hose end detached from the
tool holder inside the coolant tray to ensure that oil can circulate. In the case
of machines supplied from November 1999 onwards, a hole is provided in the
coolant tray into which the hose end can be in serted. If required, this hole can
be drilled with a 14 mm bit. Lubricant must circulate inside the pump to prevent
it being damaged. Ensure without fail that the machine is horizontal when on
a mobile stand (by removing wheels or placing the two stand pipes underneath).
Slide the roll grooving unit onto the guide arms (8) until the drive shaft of the
roll grooving unit is projecting with its 3 faces into the quick-action hammer
chuck. Close the latter until the clamping jaws are in contact with the 3 faces
of the drive shaft. With the clamping ring (9), tighten the drive shaft after a brief
opening movement with one or two hard turns. Position and bolt the hydraulic
hand pump (10).
2.4. REMS roll grooving attachment on REMS Tornado 20xx and
REMS Gigant 40xx
Refer to instructions for use of REMS Tornado or REMS Gigant respectively.
Swing in the pipe cutter and the inner pipe deburrer. Undo the wing screw on
the clamping ring. Remove the oil pan with the cuttings tray. Remove the tool
set. Close off the mechanical lubricant pump by connecting the hose end
detached from the tool holder to the intake side of the pump; lubricant must
circulate inside the pump to prevent it being damaged. Ensure without fail that
the machine is horizontal.
Slide the roll grooving unit onto the guide arms (8) until the drive shaft of the
roll grooving unit is projecting with its 3 faces into the quick-action hammer
chuck. With the REMS Tornado, close the chuck by operating the pedal switch.
With the REMS Gigant, close the clamping jaws using the chuck key until the
clamping jaws are in contact with the 3 faces of the drive shaft. Position and
bolt the hydraulic hand pump (10).

REMS Gigant 40xx T
Refer to instructions for use of REMS Tornado or REMS Gigant respectively.
Swing in the pipe cutter and the inner pipe deburrer. Undo the wing screw on
the clamping ring. Remove the tool set complete. Take out the cuttings tray.
