Software Manual

Ports and/or devices connected to the BR ports must be configured with compatible settings.
The following characteristics should be compatible for devices connected via BR ports:
•
Auto-Negotiation
•
Port Speed
•
Duplex Mode
•
Flow Control
•
Cross Over
•
PVID
•
QoS
•
Rate Limiting
For example, if switches A and B are connected via a BR switch, the connecting port on switch A should have the
same configured port speed as the connecting port on switch B. If these ports have incompatible speeds, they may
have issues communicating once the switch enters bypass mode.
Note:
It is still possible to customize port settings in any configuration desired, based on network require-
ments. Network testing must be performed to ensure correct network operation whether the switch is
powered on or powered off.
1.2.11.3
Segment
Length
Based on IEEE specifications, the maximum segment length for 10/100/1000BaseT(X) is 100 meters (328 ft). This
requirement applies to combined segment lengths between all devices connected via BR port pairs. Staying within
the IEEE specified segment length ensures proper operation.
The ports connected to the Bypass
Relay ports, on each of these devices,
must have compatible settings.
Bypass Relay
Maximum cable length of 100 meters, in case both relays go down.
