11.5 Filter Section Installation - Horizontal Air
Handlers
11.5.1 Filter Section Installation (2005)
For installation directly onto the inlet of the air
handler, remo
v e the hard w are on the inlet s u rface of
the air handler that w o u ld pre v ent the filter section
from being mated to the inlet of the air handler. Use
the pro
v ided shims (one bottom and t w o sides) to
red u ce the size of the gap bet w een the air handler
and the filter section. Re-install the hard w are (that
w as remo v ed) thro u gh the filter section and the
shims to mate the air handler to the filter section.
Hard
w are m u st be torq u ed to recommended
specifications on Page 9, Table 1 . Ca u lk (pro v ided by
others) the sides, roof and bottom seams bet w een
the filter section and air handler. Apply 3" zip tape
(pro
v ided by others) o v er the roof seam. Install the
filters in proper orientation ( See Page 130, Section
20.6 ) and attach the filter access door. Sec u re filter
access door in the closed position.
11.5.2 Filter Section Installation (2010 - 2030)
For installation directly onto the inlet of the air
handler, foam tape (pro
v ided by others) m u st be
applied to the air handler sides and bottom. To place
the filter section, the top flange of the filter section
w ill
slide u p u nder the top panel (drip edge) of the air
handler. Refer to Page 43, Figure 23 . All hard w are in
this top panel drip edge w ill need to be remo v ed prior
to placing the filter section on the air handler. Attach
the sides of the filter section to the factory installed
ri
v -n u ts on the inlet of the air handler w ith the
s u pplied hard w are. Re-install the hard w are from the
top panel of the air handler thro u gh the top panel and
top flange of the filter section. Additional TEK scre w s
may be u sed along the bottom flange of the filter
section to seal the bottom seam. Ca u lk (pro v ided by
others) the side and bottom seams bet w een the filter
section and air handler. If the filter section w as
installed prior to completing the filter section
assembly, ret
u rn to the filter section assembly
instr u ctions to complete the assembly. See Page 33,
Figure 11.2.5 for Models 2010 and 2010B or Page 39,
Figure 11.3.6 for Models 2020 and 2030.

Section 20.6 ) and attach the filter access door.

11.6.2 Filter Section Installation (2010 - 2030)
To install a filter section on an u pright air handler that
is stand mo u nted, the filter section m u st be installed
in the stand prior to placing the air handler ( See Page
22, Section 8 for proper stand mo u nting). Place the
filter section so that the o u t w ard flange is on the top
side. Set the filter section into the stand. Place ½"
foam tape (s
u pplied by others) along the perimeter of
the top of the flange. Place the air handler in the
stand per the stand mo
u nting instr u ctions.
