WHEELS
SPOKES
Spokes connect the rim to the hub. Even tension of the spokes ensures concentricity and
stability of the wheel. The spokes may settle over time and retensioning and centring may
become necessary.
RIM
Use of a V-brake rim brake will cause the rim to wear over
time. Therefore, there is a groove or a dot on the side clamp
of the rim as a wear indicator (fig. BC). If you can no longer
see it, wear has progressed and the rim must be replaced at
once.
FRONT WHEEL
REMOVING THE FRONT WHEEL
1. V-brake rim brake: Disconnect the brake cable

(fig. BD) in order to take out the wheel more
easily later.
Hydraulic rim brake: Open the quick-clamping lever

(fig. BC) of the rim brake [OPEN].

• Loosened spokes must be tightened at once at all times and damaged or torn spokes
must be replaced without delay. Danger of damage and accidents!
• Have maintenance and repair work regarding the spokes (e.g. tightening the spokes,
replacing them or centring the wheel) only performed by a specialist using suitable
tools. Only this can ensure proper function. Danger of damage and accidents!
WARNING
• When using a rim brake, the rim sides must always be free of dirt, oils and grease,
since the brake performance will otherwise reduce, or the brake may even lose all
effect. Danger of accident!
• Replace worn rims without delay, since the rim may otherwise break under load.

• Incorrectly installed wheels may impair braking and cycling performance. Danger
of accident!
• Tighten all screws and nuts that you loosened again well. The front wheel may oth-
erwise come loose during the ride! Perform a careful test ride after installation.
