Installing the New Ribbon Cartridge
Note: The use of Printek brand ribbons is recommended for increased
ribbon life and print head life. The use of only Printek brand
ribbons is required for the extended print head warranty. For
details, see “
Why Use Only Printek Brand Ribbons
” in the
“GETTING STARTED”
chapter.
1. Unpack the new ribbon from its shipping container and remove
the retainer from the slot on top of the cartridge if present. Make
sure the ribbon fabric is not twisted where it enters the cartridge;
then tighten the ribbon by turning the knob on top of the cartridge
in the direction indicated by the arrow on the cartridge.
2. Place the right hand end of the ribbon on the support bracket as
shown below while you align the plastic tabs with the slots in the
bracket. Then align and lower the left end of the ribbon onto the
left support bracket until it snaps into place. When you do this,
the ribbon fabric should lower into the area between the print head
and the pins which support the nose shield. If the printer power is
on,
Ribbon Installed
will be displayed as the ribbon is
installed.
