Note: All procedures are done with the power completely removed. Adhere to all warnings in this manual.

Color Assembly Removal

Vari-Lite Part No:  21.9704.4400

To remove color assembly:

Step 1. Run the edge (focus) mechanism to the full forward (toward the lenses) position. This can be 

done using a console by sending a DMX value of 100% (65535 decimal) on the 16-bit edge 
channel. With DMX unplugged you can also use the manual menu to set the edge to 65535. 
Or with DMX unplugged you can press the left and right arrow keys for more than 2 seconds 
(upcoming software version). If motorized movement is not possible, rotate the manual 
adjusters on the lead screws to move the edge mechanism to the full forward position.

WARNING:  

Remove power from luminaire and allow luminaire to cool completely before 

performing this procedure. Failure to remove power from luminaire can result in serious injury or 
death!

Step 2. Remove both luminaire head covers following the procedure described in 

“Luminaire Head 

Covers Removal” on page 59

.

Step 3. At driver boards A and B, disconnect DC power input and COM input. Remove wires from 

Kurly Loc cable ties.

Step 4. Rotate head to opposite side. Loosen 2 x 6-32 x ½" PPB captive screws and slide color 

assembly from head.

Note:  

In the next step, tighten tilt lock side screws first during reassembly.

Step 5. Replace in reverse order.
