Note: All procedures are done with the power completely removed. Adhere to all warnings in this manual.

Shutter Assembly & Belt

Vari-Lite Part No:  21.9704.1510

Vari-Lite Part No:  54.9704.1570 (Belt)

Step 1. Remove edge assembly following procedure in 

“Edge Motor Brackets and Support Brace 

Removal” on page 113

.

Step 2. At driver board, disconnect DC input (Orange/Red/Black) and COM (SHTTR).
Step 3. Remove 1 x M3 x .5 x 10 mm PPZ screw with cable saddle holding wires disconnected 

above.

Step 4. At rotate motor, loosen 1 x 6-32 x 3/8" PPZ screw and rotate motor to loosen belt.
Step 5. At adjustable tension roller, loosen 2 x 6-32 x 3/8" PPZ SEMS screws and slide adjuster 

away from shutter.

Step 6. Carefully lift shutter assembly, with belt, out of mechanism.

Note:  

TIP FOR EASIER ASSEMBLY:

 Pull the belt tight around the shutter mechanism. Using a cable 

tie or binder clip, hold belt tight to assembly. Insert shutter into rollers and set tension to hold shutter 
against rollers. Then remove clip or cable tie and use hook/pick to pull belt over pulley and set tension

Step 7. Replace in reverse.
