8.2 About Optical Sensor Sensitivity Adjustment
The sensitivity of optical sensor is adjustable with a potentiometer located below the optical sensor
(under the LCD faceplate. Sensor sensitivity is accurately adjusted before the product leaves the factory.
If it is absolutely necessary to readjust it, follow the steps given below with the potentiometer (Fig. 8.3),
observing the precautions below.
(1) Sensitivity decreases with clockwise potentiometer rotation
(2) "ACK mark" appears when the sensor responds to an input (rotate ON) on the LCD (see Fig. 6.3)
which may serve as a guide in adjustment.
(3) Be sure to secure the glass cover after adjustment.
CAUTION:
1. At sensitivity adjustment, removing and installing the glass cover may possibly cause the
optical sensor to respond. Be sure, for this reason, to turn the power off before removing or
installing the glass cover.
2. Increasing the sensitivity too high can make the sensor too ready to respond, even to the
glass cover, resulting in a stay-ON sensor. So, use the ACK mark on the LCD as a guide to
adjustment.
A stay-ON ACK mark without any access proves that the sensor has reacted to the glass.
◆
Optical Sensor Sensitivity Adjustment Procedure
◆
①
Using hex key, loosen setscrew (M4) securing
the display cover in place.
②
Using a flat tool, loosen the display cover by
carefully turning it counterclockwise and hand
rotate it further until the cover comes off.
③
Using plain screwdriver, adjust the optical sensor
sensitivity with a potentiometer below the display
face plate.
④
Sensitivity descreases with clockwise poten-
tiometer rotation; it increases with counter-
clockwise rotation.
