7. OPERATION
7.1 Flushing the Piping Assembly
If scale and sludges are expected to be left in the piping assembly, especially on a newly installed piping
assembly, flush the piping assembly completely before sensor installation.
7.2 Operation Sequence
Be sure to zero the meter before flowmetering:
①
Confirming proper sensor installation
To ensure safety, make sure of connecting bolts for tightness, gaskets for condition, etc. Also make
sure of flow direction.
②
Leak check
Filling the sensor tube with the process fluid, ensure that there is no indication of leaks from
connections.
③
Power ON
Following confirmation of wiring connections, turn on power.
④
Starting up the flowmetering line
Start up the pump, opening valves, and progressively allow the process fluid to run.
⑤
Warming up
Allow a warmup period for about 30 minutes.
⑥
Zeroing
When the flowmetering status settles down to stability, shut off the downstream valve to stop the
process fluid flow completely. Zero the meter in this state.
⑦
The flowmeter is now ready to start measurements.
CAUTION:
1. Avoid sharp temperature changes. They may possibly result in meter failure and
loss of accuracy.
2. If the process fluid tends to solidify, drain the sensor at shutdown and replace
the remaining fluid with suitable solvent, etc.
7.3 Supplying the Power
Upon completion of wiring connections, make sure of the power source for rated voltage, and then supply
power. If the sensor is operating properly, the front panel LCD will indicate a mass flowrate.
(1) A fault in the sensor or transmitter, if it exists, will cause the LCD panel to show an error message.
NOTE:
After power ON, allow a warmup period for 30 minutes or so.
(2) Following a warmup period, you may proceed to the zeroing according to the procedure outlined on
the next page.
