Private Branch Exchange. A private telephone exchange used and operated by
a business that provides internal communication and access to the public

Packet Internet Groper. A protocol and program that sends an echo packet to a

Point-to-Point Protocol. The Internet standard for transmission of IP packets
over serial lines.

Programmable Read-Only Memory. A programmable, non-volatile memory
device.
provisioning
The setting of data values required to operate the system. Provisioning
involves adding, deleting, or changing components and setting the values of
their attributes.
PSTN
Public Switched Telephone Network. Refers to the local telephone company.
PVC
Permanent Virtual Circuit. Provides the user with the equivalent of a
(non-switched) physical connection to a destination address using shared
facilities. The virtual circuit is anchored in the processor cards connected to
