Chapter 5 USB Interface
Introduction
There are three options for USB connection.
1.
USB Keyboard: The scanner’s transmission is simulated as USB keyboard input with no need for command
configuration or a driver. Barcode data could be entered by the virtual keyboard directly and it is also convenient for
the host device to receive data.
2. USB CDC: The USB CDC feature allows the host device to receive data in the way as a serial port does. A driver is
needed when using this feature.
3. HID-POS: It is based on the HID interface, with no need for a custom driver. It excels virtual keyboard and traditional
RS-232 interface in transmission speed.
When the scanner is connected to both USB and RS-232 ports on a host device, it will select the USB connection by
default.
USB HID Keyboard
When the scanner is connected to the USB port on a host device, you can enable the USB HID Keyboard feature by
scanning the barcode below. Then scanner’s transmission will be simulated as USB keyboard input. The Host receives
keystrokes onthe virtual keyboard. It works on a Plug and Play basis and no driver is required.
