1.
Either use the Expressbuilder CD that was included with your system, or
consult our Web site at the following address:
http://www.nec-
computers.com
to download the latest BIOS file for your motherboard as well
as the flashing utility (these files may have been zipped for your convenience).
Save these files on the root directory of a floppy disk or CD-ROM (unzip them
if necessary).
2.
Insert the Expressbuilder CD or the floppy disk in their respective drives.
3.
Turn on the system.
4.
The utility displays a “BIOS checksum error” message, and automatically
checks the drives for an available BIOS file.
5.
Once the file has been found, the utility starts flashing the corrupted BIOS file.
Caution
Do not shutdown or reset the system while updating the BIOS!
Doing so may cause system boot failure!
6.
Once the update is finished, remove the media containing the BIOS file, and
reboot the system.
7.
When the
Flashing Complete
message appears, remove the floppy disk and
press
F1
to reboot the system.
Notes: The following message may appear during POST:
“CMOS Checksum Bad.
Press F1 to Run Setup.”
In this case, press F1 to enter the BIOS Setup utility. In the
BIOS Setup utility, press F5 to load the setup defaults.
8.
Press
DEL
to enter the BIOS Setup Utility, reconfigure the BIOS settings, and
press
F10
to save the changes and exit the BIOS Setup utility.
Asus EZ Flash Utility
This utility is built-in the BIOS, making it possible to update the BIOS without
requiring any bootable floppy disk.
1.
Consult our Web site at the following address:
http://www.nec-
computers.com
to download the latest BIOS file for your motherboard. Save
this file on a floppy disk or CD-ROM.
2.
Start the system and press
ALT
+
F2
during POST to display the following
message:
Insert Disk then press Enter or ESC to continue POST
