4.9.4 Storm control
When a port receives large amount of broadcast packets, multicast packets or packets that fail to find their
targets (DLF), a packet storm is generated. The transfer of these packets leads the decrease of network
efficiency and even timeouts. The storm control function prevents this situation. The storm control
function is disabled by default.
Enabling and disabling the storm control function
To enable the storm control function, specify the type of storm control. The storm control function is
enabled as the storm control type is specified.
The storm control types of PINE-16M are:

roadcast
: control broadcast storm only
•
multicast
: control both broadcast storm and multicast storm
•
dlf
: control broadcast storm, multicast storm and dlf storm
•
all
: control the forwarding of all packets

Enter the configuration mode.
interface switchport
<1-19> To select a specific switch port
storm-control
(broadcast|multicast|dlf|all|disable)
Enable or disable the storm control function.
show storm-control
Shows the storm control settings of all switching ports.
