Maintenance
The RIO-S OSG should be monitored periodically to ensure that the unit is running properly.
MIOX recommends daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly checks. In order to maintain a
history of system performance and assist in troubleshooting and warranty work, it is
recommended that a log be kept near the OSG for easy record keeping.
Safety Precautions and Warnings
Disconnect power before working on OSG.
Do not defeat or tamper with electrical interlocks or lockout mechanisms.
Proper venting of the oxidant tank is mandatory. Refer to MIOX
Hydrogen Safety White
Paper
NO flames or ignition sources in or around the oxidant tank
Use confines space procedures prior to entry to the oxidant tank.
Do not add other chemicals to the oxidant tank.
Always follow the plumbing and venting procedures recommended by MIOX and your local
codes. Consult MIOX or an engineering professional prior to making changes to piping in
oxidant tanks
Daily Maintenance
Check the Salt Level - T
here must always be ample salt in the brine generator for OSG
use as well as water softener regeneration. MIOX recommends keeping a minimum of 1 foot
(0.3 meters) of salt in the brine generator at all times.
Note: During the first few weeks of operation, it is critical to check the MIOX OSG
more frequently to identify and solve site-specific problems, fine tune the injection
rate and tighten any connections that may have loosened during shipping.
