OPERATION of the RIO-S
Initial Startup
Before performing the initial startup of your RIO-S OSG, make sure to
perform these tasks:
Electrical Check
o
Verify connection to correct power source, nominal 400-480
VAC, three-phase, 50-60 hertz.
Initial Salt Filling
o
Flush the water line feeding the brine generator.
o
Ensure that all hose fittings are tightened.
o
Close the outlet valve and open the inlet valve to fill brine generator with
water only. This will hydrostatically test the tank for leaks and wash the
quartz rock.
o
Once the tank is filled, drain dirty water to waste.
o
Pour salt into brine generator until it is full. Salt can be loaded up to the 4”
cap on the brine float assembly.
o
Open the brine generator water supply valve and fill with softened water. The
generator has a float that will stop the flow of water to the brine generator.
Observe that the water flow stops at the correct level.
o
After filling the brine generator with salt and softened water, allow 60
minutes for the salt to dissolve before priming the brine proportion pump.
General Checks
o
Hose fittings tightened.
o
Electrical connections to cell electrodes good [5.5 ± 0.5 ft/lbs (7.5 ± .7
N•m)].
o
Electrical power connection secure (correct wiring at disconnect switch).
o
Power and switch gear compartments securely closed.
o
Water valves open per enabled bank.
o
Brine generator drain valve in closed position.
o
Brine generator full of salt and brine feed valve open.
o
Oxidant tank vent properly installed.
Brine Boost Operation
o
The brine boost system must be primed before operation. Ensure all plumbing
connections are tight. Remove a fitting or loosen a union after the brine boost
pump. This allows air to escape from the boost pump and plumbing. Once a
liquid stream comes out of the fitting/union, replace the fitting/tighten the
union. The brine boost system is now ready for initial operation
