Oxidant Tank Lid
The oxidant tank lid should cover the tank during operation, which helps reduce
volatilization and extends the life of the oxidant solution.
Feed Line Connection/Injection System
The oxidant tank outlet valve is located at the bottom of the oxidant tank. This oxidant tank
outlet provides oxidant solution to the water system for disinfection purposes. Oxidant
solution can be injected into the water system with a chemical feed pump or a venturi
injector that is typically mounted in a side-stream of the main water line. The injection
system should be designed by a qualified engineer, MIOX distributor or salesperson.
Note: Refer to Injection System Manufacturer’s Manual for installation guidelines.
Overflow Port
An overflow port connection fitting is provided at the top of the oxidant tank. This should be
piped to a drain or other suitable discharge outlet with 2” schedule 80 CPVC pipe. For sites
with two oxidant tanks installed, the overflow ports should be piped to each other with a
common drain.
If the customer elects not to run the overflow drain, then the outlet
must be plugged
to prevent gasses in the storage tank from venting to the room.
Do not pipe brine and oxidant tank overflows into the same drain header as the
water softener discharge. Install separate drain headers to a common floor drain. If
all systems tie-into the same drain header, high backpressure from the water
softener discharge can backflow into the brine and oxidant tank overflow lines and
contaminate them with softener wastewater. This will result in brine tank flooding,
scale build-up in the electrolytic cell, and/or dilution of the oxidant
If a Dilution Air system is used, the overflow port must be equipped with an internal
drop-tube to prevent forced air exiting the tank through the overflow port.
Only supply the RIO-S OSG brine (fully-saturated salt water) and fresh water.
Feeding other solutions instead of brine and water can cause severe damage
to the equipment and/or operator. Follow MIOX Salt Guidelines for salt
quality used in operating on-site generation equipment.
