Long Term System Shutdown Procedure
This sequence for shutdown of the RIO-S OSG is designed to properly flush the electrolytic
cell and help maintain the overall condition of the MIOX equipment. When turning the
system off for a prolonged period of time, it is important to follow this sequence:
1. Push the START/STOP switch on the HMI.
2. Wait while the OSG performs a shutdown.
3. Purge the brine pumps by isolating the brine generator outlet valve and
disconnecting the suction line to the brine pump. Connect a water source to the
suction side of the brine proportion pump.
4. Start the OSG to flush the pump with brine-free water.
5. Allow for systems to fault for High Brine Pump Voltage.
6. Reset Fault by pressing RESET button on Fault page.
7. Push the START/STOP switch on the HMI to STOP position.
8. Drain the oxidant tank(s), brine generator(s), drain cells and plumbing assembly if
freezing conditions could exist.
9. Disconnect the power source and remove the mini-fuse located on the UPS inside
the control enclosure. This shuts down the UPS, rather than letting it drain the back-
up battery.
Note: the water softener should be protected from freezing, either by heating the
room, removing the softener to a heated location, or draining the softener.
