Evaluating Cleaning Effectiveness
Significant improvement in output quality should be observed after cleaning the print
head. Repeat the cleaning process up to four (4) times.
If quality does not improve, refer to the
Troubleshooting
section below.
Additionally, turn the printer off and let it sit overnight between head cleaning cycles.
This allows dried ink to soften and the head will clean more easily.
Inserting/Changing Ink Cartridges
To replace or insert cartridges, do the following:
With the printer turned on, open the cover.

After it initializes the printer indicates the cartridges requiring attention (if any).
The print head moves to the cartridge replacement position.
Press the tab behind the print cartridge to be replaced and lift the cartridge out of

the printer. Be sure to dispose of the cartridge properly.
Take a new Microtech approved cartridge from its packaging, taking care not to

touch its circuit board.
Place the cartridge into the cartridge bin with the circuit board facing front.

Gently push down on the cartridge until it clicks into place.
Repeat steps two through four above for each cartridge that requires attention.

Close the cover.

The printer automatically primes the ink delivery system using the new
cartridge(s).
Emptying the Waste Ink Tank
The Xstreamjet uses two high-capacity waste ink reservoirs that store ink used during
print head nozzle clearing. The main reservoirs (also known as the rear tank) is end-
user serviceable and should be emptied as necessary to avoid overfilling.
Note
: failing to empty the waste ink tanks on a timely basis may result in damage to
the printer.
Inspect the waste ink level indicator on the back of the printer to determine if service
is required. To empty the waste ink tank, do the following:
Printing is impeded if an ink cartridge
is empty.
Leave the empty cartridge installed
until a replacement is obtained.
Doing otherwise may dry out and
damage the print nozzles.
Use ONLY Microtech approved
replacement ink cartridges.
DO NOT attempt to refill cartridges.
Doing so voids the product warranty
and may result in printer damage.
RESTRICTIONS
Keep ink cartridges away from
children. Do not ingest the ink.
If ink comes in contact with skin,
wash the area thoroughly with soap
and water.
If ink comes in contact with eyes,
flush eyes thoroughly with water.
