Protection of the environment
Environmental note
H
Daimler's declared policy is one of compre-
hensive environmental protection.
The objective is to use the natural resources
which form the basis of our existence on this
planet sparingly and in a manner which
takes the requirements of both nature and
humanity into account.
You too can make a contribution towards
protecting the environment by operating
your vehicle in an environmentally-responsi-
ble manner.
Fuel consumption and the rate of engine,
transmission, brake and tyre wear are af-
fected by the following:
앫
The operating conditions of your vehicle
앫
Your driving style
You can influence both of these factors.
Therefore, bear the following in mind:
Operating conditions
앫
Avoid short trips as this increases fuel
consumption.
앫
Make sure that the tyre pressures are al-
ways correct.
앫
Do not carry any unnecessary weight.
앫
Keep an eye on the vehicle's fuel con-
sumption.
앫
A regularly serviced vehicle will contrib-
ute to environmental protection. You
should therefore adhere to the service
intervals.
앫
Always have service work carried out at
a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. at
an SLR Service Centre.
Style of driving
앫
Do not depress the accelerator pedal
when starting the engine.
앫
Do not warm up the engine with the ve-
hicle stationary.
앫
Drive carefully and maintain sufficient
distance from the vehicle in front.
앫
Avoid frequent, powerful acceleration.
앫
Change gear in good time and use each
gear only up to
2
/
3
of its maximum en-
gine speed.
앫
Switch off the engine in stationary
traffic.
