Restraint systems
Seat belts, belt tensioners and airbags.
As independent systems, their protec-
tive functions complement one anoth-
er.
RON
(Research Octane Number)
Indicates the petrol octane number de-
termined by standard methods. It
measures petrol resistance against un-
desirable self-ignition (knock resist-
ance).
SBC
TM
brake system
(Sensotronic Brake Control)
Hydraulic brake system with electroni-
cally controlled brake boosting effect
for increasing brake safety and com-
fort.
SBC Hold
Keeps the vehicle stationary without
the driver having to apply the brake.
SBC Stop
Decelerates the vehicle continuously
when the accelerator pedal is released
until the vehicle comes to a complete
stop.
Selector lever lock
Lock that prevents the automatic
transmission selector lever from acci-
dentally shifting from position
P
to an-
other position while the vehicle is
parked.
Shift range
Number of gears available to the auto-
matic transmission. The shift range can
be limited.
Speed index
Part of the tyre designation indicating
the speed range for which a tyre is suit-
able.
Speedtronic
Speedtronic enables the driver to set a
variable or permanent limit speed:

a maximum speed can
be set during the trip
Permanent
maximum speed must be
set before you begin
your trip
SRS
(Supplemental Restraint System)
Additional restraint systems such as
belt tensioners, belt force limiters and
airbags.
