Practical advice
Battery maintenance
Charging the batteries
You can obtain detailed information on
charging the battery from your PLM or any
SLR Service Centre.
Charging with the battery charger with
trickle charging function
The battery charger automatically controls
the charge rate, and can be left connected
to the vehicle for long periods without
damage to the batteries.
왘
Observe and follow the separate oper-
ating instructions for the battery
charger.
Risk of accident
G
If the battery is disconnected or flat:
앫
The brake boosting effect will not be
available to you. Greater braking force
will then be required and the pedal trav-
el is longer. The stopping distance will
be increased. If necessary, depress the
brake pedal with maximum force.
앫
You will be unable to turn the key in the
ignition.
앫
The selector lever will be locked in posi-
tion
P
.
Risk of injury
G
Exclusively charge the installed batteries
with the battery charge unit approved by
Mercedes-Benz which is supplied with your
vehicle. Only charge the battery in a well
ventilated area. During the charging proc-
ess, gases may escape and generate minor
explosions which could injure you and oth-
ers or cause paint damage or acid corrosion
to the vehicle.
Risk of acid burns
G
During the charging process, there is a risk
of acid burns due to the gases escaping
from the battery. Do not lean over the bat-
tery while it is being charged.
