Operation
Engine compartment
Coolant
Coolant is a mixture of water, antifreeze
and corrosion inhibitor. Only check the
coolant level when the vehicle is standing
level and the engine has cooled down.
The expansion tank is on the passenger
side in the engine compartment.

Expansion tank
왘 Slowly unscrew the cap by about one
turn anti-clockwise and allow excess
pressure to escape.
왘
Further unscrew the cap anti-clockwise
and remove it.
The coolant level is correct if:
앫
the level of the coolant when cold
reaches the upper mark on the
bracing rib of the expansion tank
(arrow)
앫 it is approximately 1 cm higher
when the coolant is warm
왘
Top up the coolant if necessary.
왘 Replace the cap by turning it to the
stop.

Risk of injury
G
The cooling system is pressurised. You
should therefore only unscrew the cap once
the engine has cooled down. The coolant
temperature gauge must be below 70 °C.
You could otherwise be scalded by hot es-
caping coolant.
