Timer of Relevance:
Trunk Reservation Timer:
It specifies the time for which the trunk remains reserved. On expiry of this timer, the
trunk is freed and other stations can use this trunk.
Command :
217-31-Timer
Default : 3 minutes
Valid range : 1 to 9 minutes
Important Points:
• Once your call is over, do not forget to cancel the reservation. This will enable other station users to use the
trunk.
• A station can reserve a trunk only if it is given access to that trunk.

Universal Service Number
What’s this?
Whenever a station dials universal service number, the call goes to the service station of that particular group.
This feature could be of great use in following type of situation: Suppose more than one office boys (helping
hands) are working in an office. Each one of them is working for a group of people. The requirement is that when
any person dials ‘8’, the office boy corresponding to that set of people should be accessed. Following figure
explains it in more details.
In simple words, the requirement is that when any of the stations from 21, 22 and 23 dials ‘8’, the call should land
on station 27 and when any of the stations from 24, 25 and 26 dials ‘8’, the call should land on station 28. This
can be accomplished using Universal Service Number.
How to program?
Step 1:
Take a paper pad and pen.
Step 2: Make a group of all stations to be programmed within one group using command 305.
Step 3: Assign a service station to each group using command 2042.
Step 4: Assign unique code to be used as universal service number using command 2041.
