Controlling the MCP-601
The MCP-601 can be controlled by one of four ways:
•
With the supplied MCP-601-IR handheld IR remote controller.
•
With the supplied Magni Premier Application Software (Recommended for initial and quick
setup). In certain circumstances, the application software will over-ride the remote controller as
well as the command codes. Refer to Magni Premier application software section of this manual.
•
The users can develop custom written (or embedded) control software with the optional MCP-
601-SDK Software Development Kit.
•
Additionally, the supplied FX-1 MagniCoder Pro Controller (slider box) provides simple effects
and memory functions with push buttons and slider control.
The MCP-601 has no front panel control facility except for the Power On/Off switch. However, the
14 LED indicators tells the operator the input and output status of the unit. The IR detector is located
on the front panel of the unit for receiving signals from the IR remote controller.
The following procedures describe the operational setup with the Magni Premier Application Software. Once
the setup is completed to suit your start up or specific applications need, it can be save as PowerUp.
Additional ten different custom setups can be saved under Memory locations 1 through 10. Refer to the
section on saving and recalling Memories setting for detail. The MCP-601 shipped from the factory has
11default memories setup. These default memory settings are for basic configurations only and are intended
for users to operate the unit with the remote IR control without installing the Magni Premier application
software. Refer to the Table 5-1: Factory Preset Default Memories section for their setting details.
Running the Magni Premier application software:
Before running the Magni Premier application software, make sure the hardware and software installations are
completed, the inputs and outputs of MCP-601 are connected properly.
Start the Magni Premier software, with the Config. Tab, review the setup, including the graphics and video
formats. Connect the unit with the RS232 or USB communication port. After they connect, switch to the Mix
tab.
Pan, Zoom, Underscan, VGA 1 to 1 and Mix Modes --- Magni Premier Mix Tab
The VGA Pan/ Underscan window provides several functions in the PAN/ZOOM MODE to the
VGA or DVI
(Computer Graphics) input.
•
Set size of graphic window output from the full VGA screen. Dragging the mouse on this window
pans and zooms the graphics window output to full screen (or underscan if selected) video.
•
Double Click on the window and a coordinates box will come up allowing number entry.
Clicking on UNDERSCAN MODE reduces the graphics window on the output video to compensate for the
over-scan of picture monitors.
Full VGA screen or portions of the VGA screen (MagniPort) can be scan converted to a full screen video
output. In the VGA Zoom 1 to 1 mode, the MagniPort size of 720x480 is mapped directly to the converted
video in NTSC/525 system. The MagniPort is 720x576 for PAL/625 system. For more information, refer to
the Setting up the Keying and Graphics Filter section.
