Installing the Drive
To install IMPULSE•VG+ Series 3
:
1. Ensure the drive will be used in a proper environment. Refer to page 1-4.
2. Review “IMPULSE•VG+ Series 3 Terminal Diagram”.
3. Determine the sizes and connection locations for the drive components and external devices that
need to be wired. Locate the ground.
4. Determine the position of the subpanel.
5. Ensure that the drive is positioned vertically so that the heat can dissipate properly.
6. Ensure that the air can flow freely around the heat sink as shown below in Figure 2-3.

•
The recommended clearances at the top, bottom, and both sides of the inverter are the same
for both open chassis and NEMA 1 enclosures.

If necessary, a heater or air conditioner must be used to maintain the temperature range
listed above.
