14. Turn the handle (4) to OPEN position (O).
15. After the cleaning of element is completed, bleed air from
the fuel circuit.
For bleeding air, see OPERATION “PROCEDURES FOR
BLEEDING AIR FROM FUEL CIRCUIT”.
16. Remove cover support lever (2) and fix it to the lever lock
securely.
17. Close engine hood (1).
METHOD FOR REPLACING FUEL MAIN FILTER CARTRIDGE

WARNING
• Immediately after the engine is stopped, the parts are still very hot. Do not replace the fuel filter car-
tridge immediately.
Wait for all parts to cool down before starting the work.
• While the engine is running, high-pressure is generated in the engine fuel piping.
When replacing the fuel filter cartridge, wait for at least 30 seconds after stopping the engine to let
the internal pressure go down before replacing the filter.
• Do not bring any open flame close.
NOTICE
• Komatsu genuine fuel filter cartridges use a special filter that has highly efficient filtering ability.
When replacing the parts, Komatsu recommends using Komatsu genuine parts.
• If any cartridge other than a Komatsu genuine filter cartridge is used, dust or dirt may get in and
cause problems with the injection system.
Never use a substitute.
• When performing inspection and maintenance of the fuel system, be careful not to let any dirt or
dust get in, more than ever before.
If dust sticks to the fuel system, wash it off thoroughly with fuel.

• Container to catch the fuel
• Cloth
