SmartClass ADSL/Copper Tester User’s Guide
Exploring the bottom panel
The SmartClass’ AC Adapter/charger and USB connector are located on the
bottom panel. The USB device port is used to upgrade firmware, configure the
instrument, and download test results to a PC.
Exploring the top panel
If your SmartClass ADSL/Copper Tester is equipped with copper testing, the
connectors are located on the top panel.
The three mini-banana jacks are used to connect to tip (A) and ring (B) pair,
and to ground (earth).
CAUTION: FIRE HAZARD
To reduce the risk of fire, use only 26 AWG or larger telecommunications
line cord between the DSL jack and the wall.
NOTE: ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE IMMUNITY
When using an Ethernet crossover cable, JDSU recommends using a
shielded crossover cable for the best immunity to electrostatic discharge
(ESD).
