Chapter 7 Interpreting Test Results
Ethernet results

Bits per tone is defined as bits assigned per DMT tone (256 tones for ADSL).
Examine the portions of the graphs where there are dips or breaks. These dips
represent areas where interference is degrading the ADSL signal.
Use the right arrow to view the graph table.
Table 11 lists common noise sources and the corresponding frequencies and
tones.
Ethernet results
The ethernet category provides statistics on ethernet frames when the ADSL/
Copper Tester's 10/100BT Ethernet interface is used in TE or ADSL thru-
modes.
Table 12 describes the Ethernet results.

Result Definition
ENET STATE Status of the connection.
ENET TX BYTES Total bytes transmitted
ENET TX FRAMES Total frames transmitted
ENET COLLISIONS Ethernet frames are transmitted “space-available”
when there is a break on the signal on the cable;
sometimes frames are transmitted at the same
time as another transmitter, causing a “collision”
of frames.
ENET TX ERRORS Total errors transmitted
ENET RX BYTES Total bytes received
ENET RX FRAMES Total frames received
