torque converter housing.

Unscrew capscrews and remove solenoid control valve.
Note ‘O’ rings fitted around ports on mating face of
solenoid valve body.

On 4 wheel drive transmissions remove the 4 wheel
drive hydraulic pipe and control valve

Undo the 4 bolts and remove the gear lever turret.
Remove the baffle plate beneath if fitted. If necessary
the turret assembly can be dismantled as follows:
a
Slacken worm drive clips and remove rubber boot.

Using a suitable press or clamp, carefully press the
top lever

down to compress spring

enough to release pressure on circlip

.
Note:
BEWARE of spring pressure acting on nylon seat when
circlip is removed.

Remove circlip

Slowly release the pressure from the top lever

and remove it, together with bush

and spring

Rotate spring

so as to disengage from the
retaining tabs inside the turret

. Be aware that the
spring may suddenly disengage while still under
pressure. Repeat this operation until all the coils are
disengaged and the spring can be removed.
