Verifying the need for replacement
Before replacing a WWN card, verify that the replacement is necessary.
Any of the following events can indicate that the card requires replacement:
v
Status LEDs on the WWN bezel do not reflect the actual status of the
components
v
Power or status LEDs on WWN card indicate a problem
v
Problems viewing or modifying the data stored on the WWN card
v
Error messages regarding WWN units #1 or #2
See “WWN bezel and WWN card status” on page 64 for details on checking the
status of the WWN cards. System messages and LED patterns are described in that
section.
Removing the WWN bezel and WWN card
Complete these steps to remove the WWN bezel and WWN card.
Attention:
Follow ESD precautions (see “ESD precautions” on page xix).
1.
Open a Telnet session to the SAN768B-2 and log in to the active CP as
admin
.

2.
Verify that you are logged into the active CP. Run the
haShow
command to
determine the active CP.
3.
Run the
supportSave
command on the active CP to capture all settings. If any
problems occur during the replacement, the information will be important for
solving the problem
4.
Enter
fruReplace wwn
from the active CP blade and wait for the phrase, "
Do
you wish to continue [y/n]?
" to display; then enter
y
.
5.
Wait until the WWN card data is backed up.
Do not
enter
continue
until the
mechanical replacement is complete (see “Installing the WWN bezel and
WWN card” on page 91).
