DSS Access to Other Trunks
Description
DSS Access to other lines determines if stations will have the ability to access Trunks that are not
specifically assigned to a station through the dial 9 Trunk group or the Dial 87 group. This applies only to
outgoing access. If this option is enabled, a station may access a Trunk that is not assigned to the
station's dial 9 Trunk group or dial 87 Trunk group by pressing the Trunk pushbutton on the telephone set.
Incoming access is not controlled by this option.
Conditions
If enabled, a station may access any Trunk in the station's dial 9 Trunk group by pressing the line key
associated with the line. It may also access any line that appears on a line key on the station that is not
in the Trunk group.
If disabled, a station may access any Trunk in the station's dial 9 Trunk group by pressing the line key
associated with the line. The station may not access a line that appears on the telephone set that is not
in the station's dial 9 Trunk group.
Programming

Trunk Group Assignment, Mode 36-[GP]-[TK] is used to associate individual Trunks with a Trunk group.
There are eight available groups in the system. Each Trunk can be a member of multiple groups. See
also, Line Group Assignment, page 111 of this document.
Station Dial 9 Trunk Group, Mode 41-[STN]-04 determines which Trunk group is assigned to an individual
station. The entry in this field is one of the valid programmed groups from Mode 36-[GP]-[TK]. A station
will have access to every Trunk programmed in the corresponding group from Mode 36. See also, Line
Group Assignment, page 111 of this document.
Mode 05-04-02, Dial 9 Trunk Group Access must be enabled in order for stations to be able to dial [9] to
directly access the line group programmed on Mode 41 -[station]-04. If this option is not enabled, stations
will be able to access Trunks within their own dial 9 group by direct pushbutton (DSS) access or by direct
Trunk access code. The status of this option does not affect the operation of DSS Access to other Trunk,
Mode 05-08-02.

user will be able to access any appearing line by pressing the line key (DSS) for that line.
