13.4 Installing the rear wheel
Warning
Danger of accidents Oil or grease on the brake discs reduces the braking effect.
–
Always keep the brake discs free of oil and grease.
–
Clean the brake discs with brake cleaner when necessary.

Main work

Check the wheel bearing for damage and wear.
» If the wheel bearing is damaged or worn:
–
Change the rear wheel bearing.
–
Clean and grease the contact surfaces

of the spacers.

Insert the spacers.

Insert the wide spacer on the left in the direction of
travel.

Position the rear wheel and insert wheel spindle.
The brake linings are correctly positioned.

Mount the chain.

Position chain adjuster

on both sides and push the
wheel spindle in all the way.

Mount nut

, but do not tighten it yet.

Make sure that the chain adjusters are fitted correctly on
the adjusting screws.

Check the chain tension. ( p. 68)

Tighten nut

Guideline
Nut, rear wheel
spindle
M12x1 40 Nm (29.5 lbf ft)
–
Operate the foot brake lever repeatedly until the brake
linings are in contact with the brake disc and there is a
pressure point.
