HP Visualize fx OpenGL 3D Graphics Hardware Accelerator
Geometry Acceleration
The HP V
ISUALIZE
fx Open GL graphics hardware accelerator is equipped with the world’s
fastest geometry accelerator ASIC. It consists of a hard-coded graphics processor
containing 2 integer ALUs, 2 floating-point multipliers, 2 floating point divider/square root
units and dual control. The geometry accelerator’s main features include:
• Provides geometry acceleration for vectors, 3- or 4-sided polygons, triangle strips and
fans.
• Performs lighting calculations for up to 8 directional or positional lights, in addition to
ambient lighting.
• Handles alpha and texture coordinates.
• Provides full acceleration for OpenGL pipelines.
• Is capable of efficient parallelism.
Texture Module
The texture module, containing 16 MB or 32 MB of texture memory (depending on your
Personal Workstation model), can be installed on the HP V
ISUALIZE
fx Open GL graphics
hardware accelerator as an accessory. Installation of the texture module adds the following
features:
• 2D point, bilinear and trilinear sample modes
• MIP-mapping
• 3D texture mapping
• Shadow textures
