Installing Retail Windows 2000

Corporate Evaluator’s Guide

To install the AGP driver (ALi 1535)

If you have installed retail Windows 2000, you must install the AGP driver.

1.

Run SETUP.EXE from the video driver directory on the Recovery CD.

2.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

Upon successful installation of the driver, you will be asked to reboot your notebook.
Choose YES, I WANT TO RESTART MY COMPUTER NOW if you have no other
drivers to install. Otherwise, choose NO, I WILL RESTART MY COMPUTER LATER
and continue to the next step.

To install the audio driver (ALi M5451)

If you have installed retail Windows 2000, you must install the audio driver. To install or
upgrade the audio driver:

1.

Run SETUP.EXE from the audio driver directory on the Recovery CD.

2.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation

Upon successful installation of the driver, you will be asked to reboot your notebook.
Choose YES, I WANT TO RESTART MY COMPUTER NOW if you have no other
drivers to install. Otherwise, choose NO, I WILL RESTART MY COMPUTER LATER
and continue to the next step.

To install the touchpad driver (Synaptics)

While the touchpad will function with the default Windows 2000 touchpad driver, you
will be unable to use special features or advanced configuration settings. Hewlett-Packard
suggests that you install this driver to take advantage of these features. This driver works
for all systems, including notebooks that have both the touchpad and touchstyk.

To install or upgrade the touchpad driver:

1.

Run SETUP.EXE from the touchpad driver directory on the Recovery CD.

2.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete installation.

Upon successful installation of the driver, you will be asked to reboot your notebook.
Choose YES, I WANT TO RESTART MY COMPUTER NOW if you have no other
