Description
Boot device status
The device is synchronized and ready to be used.
Active
The device is ready to be removed from the storage system.
It will not be used to boot the storage system.
Inactive
The device encountered an I/O error and is not ready to
be used.
Failed
The device has not yet been used in a storage system. It is
ready to be activated.
Unformatted
The device is not recognized as a boot device.
Not Recognized
The device cannot be used. (For example, the compact
flash card is the wrong size or type.)
Unsupported
NOTE:
When the status of a boot device changes, an event is generated. See
“Alarms and events
overview” (page 84)

Replacing a dedicated boot device
If a boot hard drive fails, you will see an event that the boot device is faulty. Replace it with a new
drive. The boot device drives support hot swapping and do not require activation.
