6. Trouble shooting

Check the connection of DDL and cable.
¾
Check the connection of cable and serial interface on
the computer.
¾
Check the port settings in the DDL-software, to make
sure that the DDL is connected to the correct serial
interface.
¾
The DDL may be faulty. Use a different DDL.
¾
On computers with just one serial interface another
program may probably want to access this interface.
The DTU-software must be started first, before other
programs. If several programs must be run, which re-
quire a serial interface, the computer must be equipped
with further interfaces.

Has the file been saved?
¾
Has the file been saved as a text file (.txt)?
¾
Has the file been saved in a valid folder/directory?
The files have not been transferred to the PC.
¾
Check the connection of DDL and cable.
¾
Check the connection of cable and serial interface on
the computer.
¾
Check the port settings in the DDL-software, to make
sure that the DDL is connected to the correct serial
interface.
¾
Transfer a text file from the PC to the DDL and load it
back into the PC.
Some information is not displayed.
¾
Is the memory of the DDL (64 KB) exhausted?
¾
Has the desired information been overwritten?
Lost or corrupted files
¾
Was the DDL removed before the end of the backup
process?
¾
Is the DDL connected with the display or the cable?
¾
The DDL may be faulty. Use a different DDL.
¾
The display must be set to "3".
¾
The pressure delay must be chosen as short as pos-
sible, but must not be "0".
The program does not react.
Note: The bigger the backed up amount of data, the
longer the transfer of data to the computer. It may take
up to three minutes to transfer 64 KB.
¾
Press "Ctrl-Alt-Del" and quit the program via the Task-
Manager.
