Notes on use
During road travel the load applied to the cater-
pillar undercarriage is approx. 15 times higher
than in the field.
Excessive road operation considerably reduces
the lifetime of the track profile.
With good care and maintenance the casing
reaches a longer lifetime than the profile blocks.
The steel braiding of the casing must not come
in contact with moisture. Apart from this, situa-
tions in which the track is selectively overloaded,
must be avoided.
In order to avoid problems during operation, to
prolong the lifetime of the undercarriage and
thus to reduce the running costs, one must ob-
serve the following points.
¾
Tighten the rubber track belt correctly.
If the pre-tensioning pressure is too low, the
track will slip, which causes higher wear on
the wheels and on the inner side of the rubber
track belt. The undercarriage may additionally
become soiled.
If the pre-tensioning pressure is too high,
undercarriage bearings, beading of the
track belt and undercarriage frame may be
overloaded.
¾
Keep foreign materials away from the un-
dercarriage.
Sharp edged, hard materials, such as stones
inside the undercarriage can damage rubber
track belts or other components. If a belt gets
cut, moisture will enter and cause corrosion
of the casing.
¾
Carefully pass over trenches or transition
zones when turning.
When passing over trenches, the center of
the undercarriage will be unloaded. Once the
undercarriage wheel reaches the opposite
embankment, the tension applied by this
undercarriage wheel may temporarily be lost.
This increases the risk of losing the track,
especially when turning.
¾
Match your way of driving
The undercarriage should not slip on hard
surfaces. If the profile blocks rub across
hard surfaces, their wear will increase con-
siderably . When cornering drive as wide as
possible, do not turn on the spot.
