8.10 Tyre test and tyre
maintenance
•
Check the tyres every day for damage and
air pressure, because the lifetime of tyres
depends on the air pressure.
•
Have cuts or breaks in the tyres repaired as
quickly as possible, or change the tyres.
•
Do not expose tyres to oil, grease, fuel, chemi-
cals as well as prolonged direct exposure to
sunlight.
•
Drive carefully! Avoid driving over sharp
stones or edges.
•
Use only tyres and rims specified by us (see
chapter 1).
•
Repair work on tyres must only be carried
out by experts and by using appropriate as-
sembly tools.
•
Assembly work requires appropriate knowl-
edge and proper tools.

NOTE
Retighten the wheel fastening screws after the
first hour and then after 20 operating hours.
Subsequent regular checks!

8.10.1 Air pressure in tyres
The required air pressure in the tyres
depends on:
•
Tyre size
•
Load bearing capacity of the tyres
•
Travel speed
The performance of tyres is reduced by:
•
Overloading
•
too low air pressure in tyres
•
too high air pressure in tyres
NOTE
Check the air pressure in the tyres regularly
before starting to drive, i.e. with cold tyres (see
chapter 1).
The difference in tyre pressure between the
tyres on one axle must not exceed 0.1 bar.
During fast travelling or hot ambient tempera-
tures the air pressure may rise by up to 1 bar.
Do not reduce the air pressure, because it may
then drop too low when cooling down!

Michelin VF420/95 R50 177D
