SPARK ARRESTER CLEANING
Remove the muffler protector cover (page 3-5).
Remove the 4 x 6 mm tapping screw (1) and spark
arrester (2) from the muffler (3).
Clean the carbon deposits from the spark arrester
screen (4) with a brush.
Be careful to avoid damaging the screen.
Check the spark arrester screen for damage. Replace
the spark arrester if it is damaged.
Reinstall the spark arrester and tighten the 4 x 6 mm
tapping screw to the specified torque.
Install the muffler protector cover and tighten the 6 x 16
mm special screw to the specified torque.
VALVE CLEARANCE CHECK/
ADJUSTMENT
Valve clearance inspection and adjustment must be
performed with the engine cold.
Remove the following parts:
– Front cover (page 5-3)
– Rear cover (page 5-4)
– Left and right side cover (page 5-7)
– Right shroud (page 5-8)
– Inverter unit (page 8-7)
– Control panel (page 8-8)
Disconnect the spark plug cap from the spark plug.
Disconnect the breather tube from the cylinder head
cover.
Remove the four 6 x 12 mm flange bolts (1), and then
remove the cylinder head cover (2) and the head cover
packing (3).
The engine and muffler become very hot during op-
eration, and they remain hot for a while after oper-
ation. Be sure that the engine is cool before
servicing the spark arrester.
TORQUE: 2.2 N·m (0.22 kgf·m, 1.6 lbf·ft)
TORQUE: 2.3 N·m (0.23 kgf·m, 1.7 lbf·ft)
