5.1 Locking rims
Lift the toolholder arm and move the toolholder carriage
all the way out.
Put the wheel in vertically and roll it on the footboard.
Be sure to use alloy adapters when applicable.
ATTENTION!
THE DROP CENTER OF THE RIM (WHEN IT EXISTS)
MUST BE KEPT TOWARDS THE OUTSIDE OF THE
MACHINE (
Fig. 5.1-1
).
IF THE WHEEL IS VERY HEAVY BE SURE TO USE
A SUITABLE EXTERNAL LIFTING DEVICE (I.E. FORK
LIFT, CRANE ETC.)
CHECK THAT THE WHEEL IS WELL HOOKED BY
THE JAWS OF THE CHUCK.
BEFORE LIFTING FOR THE MOUNTING/
DEMOUNTING OPERATIONS, ALWAYS STAND IN A
SAFE POSITION IN RELATION TO THE WHEEL, IN
ORDER TO AVOID ANY INJURIES IN CASE THE
WHEEL ACCIDENTALLY RELEASES AND FALLS
FROM THE JAWS.
Close the jaws of the chuck and move the chuck
approximately to the center of the rim. Move the
footboard toward the chuck and move the chuck up-
down while opening the chuck arms until the rim is
clamped properly (
Fig. 5.1-2
).
Clamping thick-flanged rims
For rims which require clamping from the center bore
and which have a thick flange, you may need to unscrew
the spacers (
#1 Fig. 5.1-3
) from the jaws (
#2 Fig. 5.1-
3
), unscrewing the screw (
#3 Fig. 5.1-3
). Flanges with
a thickness of up to 40mm can be clamped in this
configuration.
