Engine Starting Problems
Failure to Start
If the engine doesn't start within
ten seconds, push your accelerator
pedal all the way down and
continue holding your key in
START
for up to five more
seconds. When the engine starts,
iet go of the key and iet up on the
accelerator pedal. Wait about
1 5 seconds between each try to
help avoid flattening your battery
or damaging your starter.

Cold Weather Starting
When starting the engine in very
cold weather (below -18°C), turn
the ignition key to
START
and
hold it there for up to 15 seconds.
Let go of the key when the engine
starts.
Wait about 1 5 seconds between
each try to heip avoid fiaitening
your battery or damaging your
starter.
Engine Flooding
If the engine doesn't start within
ten seconds, the engine could be
flooded with too much fuel.
Push your accelerator pedal all the
way down and continue holding
your key in
START
for up to five
more seconds.
When the engine starts, let go of
the key and the accelerator pedal.
If the engine starts briefly but then
stops again, do the same thing.
This clears the extra fuel from the
engine.
Wait about 15 seconds between
each try to help avoid flattening
your battery or damaging your
starter.
