Transmission mode
The transmission mode indicates whether the wireless transmission complies with
IEEE Standard 802.11b or IEEE 802.11g, or whether both transmission modes are
possible (
Mixed mode
). The main difference between the two standards is the
Transmission rate
: IEEE 802.11b – maximum 11 Mbps, IEEE 802.11g – maximum
54 Mbps. If the units use different standards in the wireless network, then you
should leave the default
Mixed mode
.

Transmission rate
The transmission rate depends on the selected transmission mode. The possible
transmission rates are shown in the pick list. You should leave the default set to
Auto
.

APPLY
to apply the settings.
Setting the Encryption
Wireless networks are open to the risk of eavesdropping.
The Gigaset SE505 dsl/cable makes use of effective encryption methods to prevent
unauthorised access as far as possible.

Wireless Settings
menu, select
Encryption
.
The following security mechanisms are currently available:

without authentication server (see page 70)
– WPA with authentication server (see page 70)
– Authentication according to Standard

encryption (Wired Equivalent Privacy, see page 71)
