Replacing the Drum Cartridge
The cleaning pad for inside of the printer is packed with the new drum cartridge. When
replacing the drum cartridge, also replace the cleaning pad.
Caution on Handling the Drum Cartridge
When handling the drum cartridge, take note of the following points:
WARNING
• Never throw a drum cartridge into an open flame. It can cause an explosion and you can
get burnt.
• Do not expose it to direct sunlight or strong light.
• Do not touch the surface of the photosensitive drum (blue colored part). Do not slam
anything into or scrape the surface of the photosensitive drum.
• Do not let the drum cartridge stand or place it upside down. The drum might be damaged.
Replacing the Drum Cartridge
Important
• Remove any print jobs from the center output tray and close the bypass tray cover before following the
next steps.

Open the front door, then the top cover.
Note
• First open the unit D if the optional duplex unit is
installed.
Important
• Do not touch any parts inside the printer.

Push up the lever on the right side of the
printer, grab the drum cartridge by the
handle, and pull it up and out slowly.
