Before Using the
Handset
When the FOMA phone is turned on, an estimate of the battery level is indicated by the icon.

p Charge the battery when it is almost empty.
You can check an estimate of the battery level by the display and sound.

After the Wake-up display (see page 105) is displayed, the Stand-by display appears.
p If you have stored many Phonebook entries or mail messages, it may take a while for the
display to appear.

If Set Time is set, the current date and time are shown.
p When “ ” is displayed, the FOMA phone is out of the service area or in the place where the
radio waves do not reach. Move to a location where “ ” disappears.
p If “Starting System Wait a minute” is displayed, wait for a while and then proceed.

When the battery is running out
The display on the right appears and the low battery alarm sounds for about 10 seconds. To stop
this alarm, press any key other than

. About one minute later, the FOMA phone will be
turned off.
p During a call, a beeping tone from the earpiece notify you of the low battery. About 20 seconds
later your call will be cut and then one minute later the FOMA phone will be turned off.
